It takes only a few minutes and no tools required. In this article we are discussing programming the remote functions in the remote transponder key. Pairing the immobilizer in the standard or remote key is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/tlcfaq.com\/main\/2013\/02\/key-programming\/\">covered here<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The following are replacement key part numbers by year. This is for reference as you should use your VIN for the part number ordering from Toyota.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Remote Key incl. Transmitter:<\/strong><br \/>\n1998.01 &#8211; 2002.08 = 89070-60090<br \/>\n2002.08 &#8211; 2005.05 =\u00a089070-60750<br \/>\n<strong>Transmitter Module for Remote Key:<\/strong><br \/>\n1998.01 &#8211; 2002.08 = 89071-60010<br \/>\n2002.08 &#8211; 2003.05 = 89071-60150<br \/>\n2003.05 &#8211; 2005.05 = 89071-60200<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The system respects up to 5 Master and 3 Valet keys. If the programming sequences don&#8217;t work for you there may be too many keys programmed. To determine the key type you have do the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Locate and Observe the Security light in the center stack of the dash board. The Security light should be blinking. Now insert your key into the ignition,\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Do Not Turn!<\/span>,<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0simultaneously\u00a0observe the Security light, 3 results are possible:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\n<ol style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Security light continues to blink = The key is not recognized<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Security light stays on for 2-3 seconds = Valet key<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Security light goes off\u00a0immediately\u00a0= Master key<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Once the Key has been accepted by the ECU (the security light is off and it starts the Land Cruiser) you are ready to program the remote functions. If the remote key is not recognized then you should start with\u00a0standard or remote key programming\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/tlcfaq.com\/main\/2013\/02\/key-programming\/\">covered here<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<h2>Programming Remotes<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Program Remote Key: FSM sequence E (1998-2002)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>When doing any of these operations timing is critical &#8211; use a watch if you have no sense of time. :)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Begin with the key out of the ignition and drivers door open and unlocked (all other doors closed).<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Insert remote key into the ignition (Do NOT Turn) and then pull remote key out.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Within 40 seconds ;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Use the power lock switch on the drivers door, perform 5 (five) lock\/unlock cycles starting with lock.<\/li>\n<li>Close, then open the drivers door.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Within 40 seconds;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Using the power lock switch on the drivers door, perform 5 (five) lock\/unlock cycles starting with lock.<\/li>\n<li>Insert the key in the\u00a0ignition cylinder.\u00a0Turn the ignition to ON (Do NOT Start) then back to OFF<\/li>\n<li>Remove the key from the ignition.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Within 3 seconds the\u00a0power door locks\u00a0should cycle automatically indicating successful entry into programming mode.<br \/>\nReturn to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.<\/p>\n<p>To accept a remote transmitter perform these steps within 40 seconds;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>On the remote key, press the Lock and Unlock buttons simultaneously for 1 second.<\/li>\n<li>Immediately after letting go of the Lock and Unlock buttons, press the Lock button and hold for 2 seconds.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<blockquote><p>Within 3 seconds of completing the steps above the\u00a0power door locks\u00a0should lock then unlock automatically.\u00a0If the door locks do not cycle, your remote has not been accepted.
