Sometimes when we add accessories to our trucks we inadvertently make changes we didn’t calculate or consider. We add cargo systems, winches, bumpers, armor, roof-top-tents and more. The list is near endless. All of these changes have one thread in common… they all add weight. Weight that changes the balance of the truck. Weight that slows acceleration. Weight that kills gas mileage. It doesn’t matter, were going to do it no matter what.
So what are some common weights of OEM parts we remove compared to those we add:
Interior:
OEM Third Row Seat = 43 lbs. ea
Exterior:
AutoHome Maggiolina Air Top Med. RTT = 130lbs.
ARB Simpson III RTT = 100 lbs.
Slee Offoad Rear Bumper w/ Tire Carrier and Ladder= 233 lbs. (bumper 140, Tire Carrier 51, ladder 42)
Drivetrain:
OEM 16″ Wheel= 24 lbs. ea
OEM 18″ Wheel= 27.5 lbs. ea
OEM Tire, Michelin LTX M/S= 41 lbs. ea
Goodyear Duratrac 285/75-16= 58 lbs. ea
BFG KM2 315/75-16= 64 lbs. ea
Protection:
OEM Front Skid Plate= 16.2 lbs.
OEM Intermediate Skid Plate= 5.4 lbs.
OEM Trans Cross Member = 21 lbs..
Slee Offroad Front Skid (Steel) = 48 lbs. (Alu)= 17lbs.
Slee Offroad Mid Skid Plate (Steel)= 35 lbs. (Alu)= 13lbs.
Slee Offroad Trans Skid Plate (Steel) = 98 lbs.
