So you broke an air box latch. Let’s see that airbox is only, wait, how much $$$$???? No way.

Parts Needed:

  • Latch http://www.reidsupply.com/detail.aspx?itm=SC-913
  • Bolts with matching washers and nylock nuts
  • Small piece of 3/8″ ABS to stand off the latch
  • blue Loctite

Follow along as I repair my air box:

Here’s what I did to fix my broken air box latch. First remove the air box from your cruiser:

  • Unplug the electrical connector from your MAF sensor
  • Loosen the output tube clamp at the MAF
  • Disconnect the remaining Air Box latches and remove the lid.
  • Remove the air filter and set aside
  • Remove the 3 anchor bolts at the bottom of the air box
  • Disconnect the air inlet at the fender and remove the air box
Lets go to work on the air box:

Broken/Missing Latch:

Dremel tool used to remove the external ribbing:

Lower air box internal ribbing:

Nuts and washers secured with blue loctite:

Adjustable draw latch spaced out with a piece of ABS plastic:

Latch over lid:

Latched!

Reinstall your air box in the reverse of the steps above.
